ADDITIONS CAN RADICALLY CHANGE THE LOOK OF THE HOME
FRONT OF HOUSE BEFORE
The home to the left was built in the 1950's and is located in Wayne, Pa. It is a split level style home with a a crawl space underneath. Note the shingle style siding. This is pretty much standard for the era it was built in. The area where the dormer window is on the right was not a finished area and served as attic storage for the home owner.
The Photo to the right shows you the rear of the house as it looked before the renovations and addition were started. the one story area consist of the kitchen and Dining room. These areas will be added to and renovated in the new design.
REAR VIEW OF HOUSE - BEFORE
Rear of House
This a view of the house includes the enlargement of the kitchen, dining room and the full dormer above the ktichen. The kitchen has been enlarged by 12 feet and the dining room has been extended 4 feet ffrom the original back wall of the house. All of the windows in the main portion of the house were changed to PELLA windows and the siding is a James Hardie Fiber cement siding.
This view to the right shows the front of the house after the renovations and shows the new entrance area along with the new front door with twin sidelights. The roof with the dormer had its ridge board raised to allow for more head room inside and additional pitch for the full dormer added in the rear. we also enlarged the width of the dormer. Once again all of the windows have been replaced with PELLA windows and the new siding as mentioned above. As I mentioned this house was built in the 1950's when energy cost were a lot lower then today, therefore there wasn't any insualtion in the walls. After we removed the origina siding we had the walls injected with low expansion foam insulation providing approximately an R18 insulation value to the walls. When these Photos were taken the bow window had not yet been changed but was done before the job was completed
